The MAKO Explorer is a recreational water vehicle focusing on Exploration, Exercise, and Easy Access. In my research I found an opportunity for innovation in the water sports market between kayaking and jet skiing. Therefore I created a vehicle with the exercise component of a kayak with the freedom and speed of a jetski. I did this by combining E-bike pedal assist technology with hydrofoils to limit drag, increase efficiency, and highten the experience. The target user is young adults who work indoors all day, and this vehicle will give them another reason to get outdoors and be active. It is also designed to work well in the rental space, making it more accessable price wise and eliminating setup and cleanup times which I found to be a deterrent from getting on the water.
